Lee Hyori 이효리 (Lee Hyo-lee, 李孝利) became the highest paid female singer in Korea when she signed a 3 year deal with Korean M-Net Media for a rumoured W1.5 billion (S$2.5m) in 2006. Originally from the successful K-pop girl group Fin.K.L, Lee’s first solo album won many “Daesangs” (Korean equivalent to “Artist of the Year”). Although her acting career got off to a rocky start, her role in If Love… Like Them opposite Lee Dong Gun did well. In 2007, Lee Hyori became the first Asian to lead Calvin Klein Jeans’ “Pure Calvin” Collection campaign in asia.

Fiona Xie 谢宛谕 made her acting debut as a nurse in the local series Growing Up. Her performance led to her being cast in her breakthrough role as a sexy fairy in My Genie. In 2005, Fiona was voted “FHM Singapore’s Sexiest Woman of the Year”, despite never appearing in any of FHM’s issues. Love or loathe her, Fiona is considered one of the bigger stars in Singapore’s celeb-ville.

Jolin Tsai 蔡依林 was signed by Universal Music Taiwan at age 18, after she won first place in an MTV singing competition. Her albums enjoyed moderate success around Asia. But her big break came, courtesy of a song written for her by Jay Chou, when Sony Music signed her in 2003. Her biggest album Dancing Diva was released in 2006, and firmly set her as Taiwan’s pop princess.

Margaret Denise Quigley was born in Honolulu to an American father of French, Polish and Irish descent and a Vietnamese mother. She worked as a fashion model in Japan and Hong Kong before landing an acting role in a Chinese TV series. Her breakthrough came when she was picked to star in the HK thriller Gen-Y Cops. Her first big Hollywood role put her alongside Tom Cruise in MI-III, where she wore a drool inducing red dress which made the world sit up and notice her.
