Of The Returning Jedi

Congratulations to Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam on his successful formation of the Reform Party! Mr JBJ, imho is one of the most respected veteran in Singapore political history. He was the first opposition party candidate to be elected as a MP. Hopefully, he can lead the young aspiring opposition candidates to greatness. Click here if you would like to be part of the party’s inauguration dinner. Contact details are available in the first comment.
The recent road closure (Wednesday) at Marina Boulevard is a cause for worry. With so many constructions going on at the Marina Bay area, who can be sure the Nicoll Highway incident wouldn’t happen again?
The Straits Times yesterday reported that there was a ‘scuffle’ over at Mount Vernon when the Gurkha contingent resides. As usual, there is precious few information in that article. All it says is a group of Gurkhas had a scuffle while off-duty. Even well-trained soldiers, no matter how disciplined there are, there are still affected by the inflation and naturally, they had a ‘scuffle’ over their salary. Taking into consideration that many Singaporeans are unhappy about having to serve NS, should the government decided to phrase out the use of mercenaries, are Singaporeans up to the task of protecting key installations in Singapore? Then again, it seems quite akward a time to mention this considering the escape of MSK and the pair who ran away from the Supreme Court. Yet in the long run, this problem has to be solved.
It’s like asking, who is going to replace the foreign talent in our construction and housing estates should they leave?
Hmm…
For those of you heading out to the Great Singapore Sale, do mind the increased ERP charges. !@#$!@#$. If only the government is adventurous enough to experiment a week without activating the ERP gantries to observe traffic flow. A bottleneck is a bottleneck and though is may not be due to the roads architecture itself, it is the ‘virtue’ of the government that every green piece of grass is developed into blocks of flats or buildings leading to heavy traffic which give rise to the jams. Nobody likes to be caught in a jam. It worse when I pay and still get stuck in a jam.
Have a good work week,
the B.
