    Dear Y2K,

We have been following the recent developments relating to the brotherhood press with great interest. Just over a month ago. The press fell silent under mysterious circumstances. No reasons were forwarded. Although it is fair to say many can well speculate on a variety of colorful reasons. There is however, quite a disturbing post here.http://aaron-ng.info/blog/how-to-avoid-being-convicted-of-sedition.html#comment-17864. Could you pls confirm whether this is an authentic post by Darkness?

You have no idea how your words warm the cockles of all our hearts, when you mentioned the brotherhood press will be resuming publication runs again sometime in the near future. This has ineffect put an end to much speculation concerning their hiatus. Thank you very much for stepping out and clarifying in such uncertain terms. http://singaporedaily.net/2008/07/27/of-the-bounty/#comment-1834

Darkness was indeed a very wise man and he certainly had a huge following in my read club and I am sure others. I cannot begin to tell you his absence in blogosphere is felt far and wide. This is very good news and I would like to seek your permission to convey to others who may have a wrong impression of what is actually the current status.

I would like to wish him and the rest of the writers, God speed.

Thank you very much Y2K and allow me to say this with utmost hope, you have really made us all very happy. Thank You

    Best Regards

    Dear Dr Tam,

Thank you for comments. I believe this is the comment you are referring to:

Yes, I have to admit, it has been authenticated by many of us as originating from the personal hand of Darkness.

However, let me say this. This post makes no sense at all. If anything it only serves to underpin my reasoning all this doesn’t make any sense at all.

I am sure he was just despondent and a bit frustrated by the lack of support from the rest of the brotherhood.

I don’t see how this in any way represents a firm declaration that he is going away for good. We all know enough about life to reason there will always be peaks and valleys in any human endeavor; up’s and down’s even. He is a seasoned hand at weathering all these storms. My gut feel tells me this is just an impetuous post penned at a moment of haste. Maybe he was drunk. I don’t know, but why would any man disparage himself in such a manner as to suggest he is unworthy of even the benefit of the doubt – I find that hard to reconcile and even harder to believe as something that once emerged from his core – I firmly believe it was a spur of a moment post.

On the contrary, there is every reason to believe his reasons for throwing in the towel is so misplaced, it cannot be seriously considered. We know for a fact; even some of the decision makers in AIMS have intimated to many; they are going to propose more and not less freedom in the net. This can only mean one thing, they will not legislate; neither will be buy the whole idea of setting up a IC3 committee or even to try to control or impose any regulatory guideline on our net; besides from what I see of the community moderation debate; it seems to be just hanging in the air; so it too is unlikely to bear any fruit. As I see it, nothing has really changed and if nothing has changed what really is the point of Darkness following through? It makes no sense. I tell you, not even a bit.

This leads me to only one logical conclusion; the writers guild once headed by Darkness will resume again. Trust me, everything will return to the way it used to be before this storm in the teacup was whipped up and soon this fracas will simply be a forgotten memory of remembrance of things past.

You just watch and see. I am so confident that if they don’t return within the month, I will even close down the FILB and walk away myself. That’s really how confident I am about the outcome. I have faith Darkness will do the right thing; only he can end this writer’s boycott and he knows it and he will do the right thing; from my reading of brotherhood history; he has always done the right thing; and I feel he will have more reason to do so on this occasion than ever before.

Thank you and may I wish you all happy reading.

    Dear all,

There are some things in life which will always remain private between two human beings; one of them is what a master may share with his apprentice.

It is over Y2K, take my word for it, Darkness aka the man of all seasons is no more; guild I want you all to overlook the ignorance of the new director general of the FILB, he is new and he is my charge, the fault is mine entirely. Never blame him. He is yet to know our ways. The fault is mine entirely.

Forgive me for I have failed to teach him our ways. Forgive me please.

Readers ignore what Y2K said. Darkness is no more. He will never return again.

I was his apprentice. The father of the game is no more.

    Harphoon
