Xu Jing Lei 徐静蕾 (nickname 老徐 ol’ Xu) is a rising star in Chinese cinema. A graduate from the Beijing Film Academy Performance Institute 北京电影学院表演系, she has starred and won numerous acting awards in China. The multi-talented star from Beijing not only acts, but models, sings, writes and directs as well. In 2003, she won the Best New Actress and Best Actress awards at the 4th Annual Chinese Film Awards in the film My Father and I 我和爸爸 which she wrote, directed and acted. She has since written, directed and starred in 2 more films, bagging the Best Director at the 52nd Donostia-San Sebastian International Fim Festival for the 2004 A Letter From An Unknown Woman 《一个陌生女人的来信》. In 2006, Xu Xing Lei topped Technorati’s chart when her blog clocked 50 million clicks. In 2007, she started her own online magazine Kai La 《开啦》. Her latest movie saw her starring opposite Jet Li in Warlords 《投名状》. [Phew, what a woman!]
