Of Obama and the Sg Political Climate

Thanks Anonymous_X for the link to the Barack Obama cartoons.
Yes WE CAN!
President Barack Hussien Obama’s win has demonstrated what years of war, death of American soldiers, the internationally publicised abuse of prisoners and the current recession has done to the nation and her people. A believe for hope and change.
To most Americans even Singaporeans perhaps, Obama is an embodiment of hope. His words seem to have brought light to the Land of the Free in this bleak time. I would like to say that his victory was largely won by the words he spoke. They are different from what we have grown accustomed to hearing during elections. However, even Democrats like Obama and Hilary Clinton have sounded uncanningly like George Bush when it comes to Palestine.
Obama has 4 years to weave his promised magic. The weight of the world economy’s is on the man’s shoulders as the rest of the world watches. Can he save America, a global leader with its sinking economy before it drags the rest of the world down with her?
In Singapore, we remain skeptical about our opposition parties. With the passing of JBJ, we regret that he would not be able to lead his Reform Party for the next election. We dream about the possibilities if he could. Why does Dr Chee Soon Juan, a bankrupt always have funds to attempt to leave Singapore? Has SDP recently accquired an image consultant for most blogs of SDP of late are focused on how down to earth Dr Chee and his sister are? Why has Workers’ Party remain mostly silent and not use the internet as much as the SDP to publicise themselves?
While the Americans still hunt for Osama, we are hunting Mas Selamat. Sarah Palin’s “lipstick on a pig” comment is probably on par with you know who’s “salary of SGD 600, 000 is peanuts”. Obama’s win has prompted PM Lee Hsien Loong to say that “it’s possible for Singapore to have minority race prime minister“. Hell, we even have a band consisting of Members of Parliament.
Change. Change is the only constant be it good or bad. We remain hopeful.
I digress a little. Most people regard buying 4D, Toto and/or Big Sweep as buying hope. If punters cannot claim their non-winning bets from Singapore Pools, should the minibombs investors be allowed to claim their capital?
Note, these are just my humble opinions. Thanks for reading.
the B.
P.S. Loads of actions in this Quantum of Solace. Ukranian Olga Kurylenko is one hot lady. Even James Bond has been adapted to suit the 21st century. Yes, the missus has sworn that she would eat sushi off his body anytime.

Say NO to internet regulation in Singapore.

Hope, the only thing us peasants are allowed to have. But if you want to realise that hope, you’d have to shove off to Perth. Or would you care for some prescribed hope for a couple of hours under the hot sun in a field more for a kickabout?

The Obama frenzy will fade soon enough. Let’s wait for the 100 days report.
