Weekly Roundup: Week 02

Weekly Roundup: Week 01

“Taking five weeks’ leave from work is not as difficult as one thinks.”
Perm Sec, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tan Yong Soon

“The internet decentralizes power, takes it out of the hands of the elite few, and distributes this power into the hands of each of the millions. With the internet, talented journalists that Balji calls for, may no longer be needed. When something happens to you, you no longer need to wait for a talented journalist to tell the world your story – you can do it yourself. And if everyone involved in your situation does so, we would have the same story told from a hundred different angles, and the reader will be the determiner of the truth. No longer do we have to hear only one or two reporters’ version of the story, with all the bias – with the internet, the ideals of many many independent news providers are achieved, because everyone can now be a news provider.”
Mathia Lee

“As leaders of our nation and caretakers of our economy, they should have a keener sense of business acumen and judgement of characters. But then again, Singaporeans aren’t too smart themselves to be keeping this bunch of half-baked potatoes in the government for eons.”
Wayang Party

“We are still paying golden peanuts for stupid monkeys.”
Singapore Dino

Weekly Roundup: Week 01

Weekly Roundup 01

In memory of JBJ: 5 Jan 1926 – 30 Sept 2008
5pm today at St Andrews Cathedral

“Unlike the authorities of other countries who spoke to the victims to see what can be done to help them, MAS kept its distance. MAS refuses to conduct direct investigations.. Our leaders stepped forward to blame the victims for their plight.. This incident showed how extraordinary our leaders are for they acted differently from the leaders of every other country where the problem occurred. This incident shows clearly where our leaders will stand when Singaporeans suffer from misfortune.”
Diary of A Singaporean Mind

“As a country obsessed with nation-building and the great Singapore story, local education is invariably intertwined with national education. From the sheer competence of the PAP, the evil of the communists, the stupidity of the Barisan Socialists, we are taught one specific narrative of our history. From authoritarian classrooms to being told what subjects to study (and what to drop), we are taught the value of strict hierarchy and maintaining the status quo.”
groundnotes

“It is high time Singapore (or rather the Goverment) stop boasting to be one of the market leaders when you cannot even take charge in a small little red dot.”
Endoh’s Dungeon
