My name is Brenda Ng. I am from Katong. I dont know where to go too. But I feel very angry.
I wrote this and posted it in toc after I saw a case of misjustice. I wish to keep a mirror copy here. If you all dont mind. As my frens told me, this site can be trusted.
All I want is for all netizens to see the moderation hypocrisy that exist in toc.
31) gbh on February 9th, 2009 3.25 pm I am just an occasional reader in toc. But even I cant help wondering to myself what happened to Andrew Loh’s famous moderation policy that he keeps harping on about. All I can say is this incident reflects poorly on toc after publishing this
http://theonlinecitizen.com/2009/01/a-note-about-moderation-on-toc/
as it creates the impression;
(a) There are two systems. One that only favors those attacking the brotherhood.
(b) The brotherhood doesnt deserve the same treatment as others here.
(c) The moderator has every right to take sides including tilting the playing field to suit whoever and whatever purpose.
Or maybe what SD said here is right.
“What you must all ask yourself is this; what better way to justify measures against cyber bullying; than by deliberately allowing to happen here and now?”
I dont wish to go into those areas. I am just very disturbed. This incident leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
I came here originally to ask Gilbert Goh the following questions.
(i) “While anti-cyber bullying websites are common in Australia, he was shocked to find out that no Singapore equivalent exists, despite cyber bullying being on an uptrend.” Can you please anecdotal evidence to show this. I am not trying to say you are generalizing, but where did you get that sort of information to even suggest such a trend?
(ii) As Miss Doubt mentioned in entry 9 @ 7.27 am. Why is there no cut off age? I doubt mind if this whole idea is protect kids lets say below the ages of 9 or 12. But you dont seem to be saying that Gilbert. Infact, I have the distinct impression this may even apply to cases how some netizens have reacted negatively to SHT.
Tell me Gilbert is SHT bullied according to your definition?
(iii) Why create another safeguard when we already have the penal code? Tell me by whose authority are you acting under? I know the courts has the authority to ask a telco for info etc, as it is empowered by the constitution under a parliamentary mandate. But where does your org get your legitimacy from.
Another thing you keep mentioning the case in Australia. What you dont seem to mention however was this idea was mooted in Tasmania for nearly 16 times and every time the state legislature shot the idea down.
Its ver sad this discussion degenerated into 20 or so post of mud slinging. Its even sadder to see it happen in toc. I dont want to come here anymore. And please dont you dare delete this.
Please come back to all of us Gilbert. Many thanks
This post was made in the following article published in toc here

On Housing.
Does removing the feature such as covered walkways in HDB help to bring down the price of HDB significantly? So to say, such feature, which are shared by the many units of the HDB flats, formed a large cost component in the HDB unit price? If this is the case, why not check if those features are overly priced? Anyone see a gold-plated sheltered walkways in HDB?

On “Singapore A Dying Breed”.
How amusing it is to see person of the elite group trying to relate the human re-production rates with the size of a working-week.
The people in Singapore did not re-produce enough to meet the nation’s quota, but this is not because there is not enough time to carry out the “processes” (the act to reproduce). Just take a look at the escalated rates of HIV & STD cases and how familiar it is to our ears to hear from our surrounding the common of extra & pre-marital sex, teens-sex and casual sex (of course these are non-childbearing-intended sex). From here, there is no doubt that there isn’t any lacking in the “activity”. With or without extra rest day or working-day, Singapore is not resting to engage in the activity, Singapore is just not going to re-produce to the liking of the national quota.
Wonder if the NMP did his homework before giving out such a speech, did he compare the rates of contraceptives prescribed with the reproduction index? Did he explore the possible reason of “able & eligible**” couples who choose to use contraceptive instead of contributing to the population? How many kids does he have? Did he lead by example to have a sizable family?
** able & eligible as in couples who fit the bill to produce brainy good breed as preference by the country.
If you are not working at home, you better be working in your workplace. If not, you are not a good production machine.

I highly suspect that instead of passing the benefits of scale back to Singaporeans by lowering HDB prices (especially 3-room flats), they have instead chosen to plow money into building over elaborate covered walkways and sculptured lobbies and pick-up points which I find is a waste of public funds. I’m from Toa Payoh and the walkways that have been built recently are ridiculously over elaborate and I’m sure costly compared to simple but functional walkways.

toc is like the opposite of the gahmen’s feedback channel. the former only listens to anti-gahmen comments while the latter only listens to pro-gahmen crap. why can’t we have a place where views from both sides can be expressed? neither is good for us in the long run.

Will Ho Ching be the next President?
February 10th, 2009 at 11:57 am
Bingo. The gears are beginning to grind again. How else to ensure Temasek and GIC don’t go bankrupt under the weight of over $200b accumulated loses investing in UBS, Citibank etc etc.., thats
$200 THOUSAND million
$200,000,000,000
Husband with one key, wife with the other key. Anyone care to guess how long before they secretly empty our reserves? Until the next GST increase?
