Daily Chiobu: Keiko Kitagawa

Keiko Kitagawa 北川景子 is a Japanese actress from Hyōgo Prefecture. Growing up in Kobe, she is a survivor of the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995 where she lost many of her friends. During her high school year, she auditioned for and won the title of Miss Seventeen 2003, and was drafted into the modeling fold of Seventeen Magazine. From 2003 to 2006, Kitagawa was an exclusive model for the Japanese Seventeen magazine where she had a regular feature “Keiko’s Beauty Honey”. During this time, she won her first acting role as Rei Hino/Sailor Mars in the “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” live action TV series which ended in 2004. After leaving Seventeen Magazine, Kitgawa graduated from Meiji University where she was majoring in Business Management and went fully into acting. She has since appeared primarily in films, including Mizu ni Sumu Hana, Mamiya Kyōdai, The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift and Cherry Pie. In 2007, Kitagawa won her first starring role in the movie “Dear Friends”.
