If a group of bloggers (very much like ABS) wants to buy into a code of conduct or regulate themselves. I dont see why the brotherhood will object. They will not. Infact, they will support it.

I dont think they are anti-community moderation per se.

What they are against seems to the idea of one group of people attempting to representing them without their consent. I think it may have an impact on their gaming interest. They are always nervous of this idea of one super duper body representing blog-o-sphere. I think if that line is breached, you will definitely get strong resistance.

As I understand it providing it is structured in a way where there is a choice i.e I don't wish to sign on for the package.

Then they are fine. Problem comes in when they don't have the freedom to elect to choose. Or if they are all cut off from the consultative process.

You can review some of post on community moderation here when they once resisted Cherian George et al.

Another thing. I dont see how community moderation has anything to do with de-regulating our net. Is this another ST spin and hype?

To: looking for the brotherhood
February 21st, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Yes, we have many opinions concerning this subject. However, I regret to inform you that we do NOT currently have ANY diplomatic relations with the MSM; neither do we see any need to cultivate a relationship as in our considered opinion the expected returns would be not be worthwhile.

As such our official position is -no comment.

Pls dont get us involved in this matter, we are very small and insignificant. What we think is inconsequential.

Thanks

SD (Internet officer of the brotherhood)

Dear sir / madam

I am currently working on a follow up article piece and require the following inputs to complete my story.

I have tried on numerous occasions to post in dotseng.wordpress.com to no avail.

I wish to ask the liaison officer of the brotherhood the following questions.

(1) Sir, I am sure you have read the piece published today (Feb 21) by both Clarissa Oon and Jeremy Au, entitled, "moderate so govt can deregulate."

Could you pls share with all of us whether you are in principle in agreement with the whole idea of community moderation?

(2) What do you think in your opinion is likely to work? Can you provide us all any suggested solutions.

Pls note, if we do not receive a reply from you, we will simply state very clearly the case, the brotherhood offers no comment.

Many thanks

Too bad he will be too busy studying for exams to explore his latent talent. After exams he will be dump straight into NS, straightened out, institutionalised, brainwashed. And by the time he is let out of the army after 2+ years, he\'d have forgotten he once had a talent 3, 4 years ago. No time to play around with unproductive hobbies, got to find a job or employers will think you are a no good bummer.

Who knows he could have been a budding playwright, might have made the Esplanade into an asian Broadway, but hey why waste time investing in nurturing our potential talents when we can import them cheap from neighbouring countries, right?
