Weekly Roundup: Week 12
Posted by singaporedaily on March 21st, 2009

..the nature of business development in Asia is so different and [the West] fail to understand that in a country where the private sector is nurtured by the state, the business community will be the last people to champion democratic reform.”
Carpediem
“Alternative news source do not simply appear if established ones are doing their job.”
groundnotes
“I cannot take this anymore and I don’t know what I’ll do one day.. I get angry when I see her so how can I don’t hit her?”
Ng Kim Ngweng
“Isn’t it ironic that Mr Lee who prides himself in having brought Singapore up by providing education is now busy trying to create a limitation of the mind in his quest to remove any ressurgance of the people who put him into power all those years ago.”
Tang Li
“I would gladly trade, pardon the pun, GDP growth with the ability to speak my native language (it is neither English nor Mandarin) even if it is the most economically unviable language in the world. For that matter, I would be proud to be a Singaporean even if it is the poorest country there is around. What consolation does it bring, to be able to speak to 1.3 billion Chinese all over China if I cannot even engage in a proper conversation with my own family?”

Say NO to internet regulation in Singapore.

March 21st, 2009 at 3:53 pm
It appears that each time the MSM online is publising a controverisal article, it gets lifted off, even threads of discussions in the forum, when the heat gets hot on the topic, as in the case of the CDC bonuses.
The Singapore Daily could possibly archive these for discussions, like the adelpi forums, and in the event the MSM’s lift off these article in midst of te discussions.

I think it is time for us to start an aggregation site. There are a few things which I am not very happy with here.

SD - “There are a few things which I am not very happy with here.”
- make some suggestions… why redirect the traffic since it appears that this site’s traffic is increasing and they do a relatively good job to consolidate all the socio-political blogs and put them in the various categories for easy reading, as well as summarize them at the end of the week.
I used to read the site at sgblogs.com. Still do sometimes for the specific bloggers. However this site has simplified the process by consolidating the articles together for te read.
It is usually useful to read the various blogs of similar issues to get a clearer picture or at least get the angle that eac different bloggers have, wich is what this site as done.
However as I have suggested above, it will be useful if they can also have a section where they are archiving controversial articles printed in the MSM, especially those in respond to the new media, and the various threads related to the discussion.
[glad to hear that ^_^]

“- make some suggestions…” Yes, you may well be right Soojenn, that would less confrontational, I imagine.
I makes no sense to start another site to fight with this one. I may just take up your suggestion Soojenn.
Thank You
