Entertaining Wayang from the “Conservative Majority” who want to say that this delusional(because they actually believe) majority(Army) included normal day to day Citizens, like old folks who still pray to kuan yin/PArticipate in thaipusam /sembahyang , is supporting their cause.
Now that’s pathetic. The Uncles and Aunties who have more pressing problems also say they(the discrimination squad) are pathetic.
But then they still want to impose their will on others when they lost. How Gracious.LOL

People must be clear about the following when discussing AWARE’s sex ed:
- Target of education are minors. What is the main objective? General knowledge on sex? Safe sex (STD/pregnancy prevention etc.)? Do minors need to be taught gender acknowledgement/equality? Should we ask what is a good age to introduce such concepts to our children? Sooner? Later?
- References to oral/anal sex should be in relation to pregnancy prevention/hygiene and not necessarily gay sex. Removal of references to different sexual practices should be carefully considered in the context of a wholistic sex ed. Do not be clouded by personal convictions of gender issues.
Just some of my thoughts.

Hey ClearThought,
I agree with you. It’s hard to tailor sex education for everyone. Some minors may recognise their inclination at a young age. Perhaps AWARE’s sex ed would be of a resource to them. However, this also creates a certain level of awareness in the rest of the minors.

When the sex-ed issue was brought up during the AWARE saga, I always feel that this issue was being blown out of proportion. To be fair, for the CSE programme to be fairly assessed, we must not only look at the training material. We will also need to know how the trainer delivered the messages across to the students. I see nothing wrong if the trainer tell the student that anal/oral sex is not criminalised between heterosexual partners and the stand towards such sexual acts should be neutral. Being neutral means that it is all up to you whether you can accept or not. Also, trainer might also want to add that she is just creating awareness and not imposing on the moral aspect, which rightfully should be done by the parents.

I see that there’s a sizeable portion of local parents who are unable to accept that sexual identity is fixed the day one is born.

Staggered intro to sex ed based on age can be considered. An adjustment to current age clusters such as:
Eg.
- Generel birds and the bees topics for minors up to say 15.
- Teen pregnancy and STD issues at 16.
- Gender acknowledgement/equality topics at 17.
No solution can please everyone. But if we do not want to see sex ed in limbo, some compromise/reconciliation must be reached.
