Say NO to internet regulation in Singapore.

I’m impressed indeed.
I am of the opinion that oppositional or alternative sectors of society here tend to mirror the government - logically, ceteris paribus, one cannot address a problematic situation without simultaneously being a product of it in some significant way. i.e. allowing or giving space for the expression of disagreement but not enabling it to influence one’s stance despite reason.
That is quite true in most cases, but Singaporedaily.net seems to stand out and apart from this tendency - except, with regards to the Daily Chiobu section. But, their slotting in an International section is significant enough for credit. SGdaily might not realise it, but their taking a suggestion and adding a footnote to it that gives credit to one who is not amongst their number is quite the major breakthrough in local oppositional/alternative politics. It sends a clear signal to the masses that they too can be a source of ideas, even for the opposition. It serves to break the monopoly that the elite of both camps are perceived to have on Truth by their respective congregations.
Good one Singaporedaily.net.

Thanks ed.
It’s what we hope to encourage - the sharing of opinions and perspectives.

Ed - What about the chiobu section? :) That’s my fix.

I was waiting for someone to say something like that lol

Greetings Percival,
In answer to your query, the link to the relevant article may be found in Singaporedaily’s 1st June edition.
Quite telling that yourself, amongst a host of others, don’t see a problem with it.
But neither did a host of men, racists, etc, see a problem with women being confined to the hearth, or blacks in chains, in the historical past.
In that they were a part of a problem whose vista they were oblivious to but which they unwittingly created.
To all who get their ‘fix’ through the ‘Daily Chiobu’, try a little empathy and you’ll see more than your self-absorption might otherwise enable you to.

Come on, this ‘Daily Chiobu’ section just spoils the other great stuff this site has to offer. By providing such prominence on a ‘daily’ dosage, it has indirectly discredited the rest of the more significant and critical work. There are already, loads of sites which offers these pictorial stuff and if people who really want to look for them, i believe they would hunt for them in those other sites. If Singaporedaily expects to invite and incite critical thoughts, discussions and contributions, it’s credibility needs to be examined carefully.

actually i beg to differ,
the daily chiobu only serves to provide a balance to the rather heavy atmosphere given that alternative news reports tend to be more focused than what the mainstream offers us.
also the it isn’t ‘daily’ per se, more like on a weekly basis

Relax guys. Some people like to admire scantily clad women. Some don’t. Neither is right or wrong. I personally don’t but I wouldn’t deny others of their harmless interests. Or should we take over SGDaily in an AGM and forcibly remove content that we don’t approve? Hmmm?
