Our position is as follows: We believe everyone has a right to project online. But there remains a caveat – in the long run it pays to be honest, truthful and open abt the goal. The way I see it, problems usually arise, when people aren’t honest and harbor hidden agendas – and when other people eventually find out their real intention – it’s only natural, they feel slighted as no one likes the wool to be pulled over their eyes.

Under those circumstances. I don’t think is it reasonable to expect people to remain calm or even expect them to respond logically. No one after all likes to be treated like a fool and taken for a ride. Respect must cut both ways, if the goal is to sustain a working relationship based on trust and respect. It cannot be demanded. Not online at least. I think this is common sense and will remain key to the whole question of whether SingaNews succeeds or fails as an online enterprise. Again I do not see what bearing we may have to either shape or modulate the final outcome, setting aside the issue of motivation.

It is conceivable many of you over estimate us our capabilities. We don’t have a mind control machine. We are really quite insignificant in the whole scheme of things. Having said that, we do however have a right to blog.

Internet Liaison officer of the brotherhood

I am all for “mainstream family values”. Sounds good as I am a family man. What remains an “unknown quantity” is what if the portal takes an adversarial and aggressive approach to anything that does not conform to that definition?

Will they then go around talking down to other people? Will they try to assert their “acceptable” way on others? Do we have a right to opt out or will it be like blogger 13, you are automatically a member whether you like it or not?

If u ask me. I think that is what the brotherhood is really afraid of. If the new portal adopts a live and let live stance, I think judging from what I see in the gaming world, they can co-exist and even find many subjects of common interest to build on.

But one thing is certain should it be otherwise, the brotherhood will be the first to take bites out of this new portal, they dont even need you and I to say it is bad or even put it to the ballot. The dont even need the rest of the net to join them. They will just bring it down all by themselves very much in the way they did with the blogger 13 once upon a time, till there is nothing left, then and only then will they go to the United Nations and talk shop.

(a) Darkness is not like Yawning Bread aka Alex Au. The later can shoot from the hip. Darkness cannot, too many factional interest within and outside the gaming scene. He is constrained by these realities. So he needs to be diplomatic to the extent of even accomadating the gay pride movement/ That could be why he decided to refrain commenting abt singaNews.

(b) Second reason has to do with tactics. YB likes to comprain, but if you look, that is all he ever does. No firepower. What do we have? On record, he has told everyone online they deserve “a fair go.” Tell me, if he turns around and says one day, they are out to dominate the net, who will not believe in. The beauty of his strategy is either way, he wins.

(3) They want to find out about the 90K. To you and me this is addendum. To them, it is power, they want to know who, how along with what is the strength of the networks and linkages that makes this possible and if possible even infiltrate it. Does Yawning bread even know how to think like that? I think not!

Its heartening to see the BP is taking a mature view to all this. They are wise and many have it seems listen to them. They have certainly lowered the temp considerably. Someone told me one reason why they are so effective is because unlike our gahmen who see the internet as one homogeneous mass. The brotherhood see it as tribal patchwork very much like Afghanistan where there are thousands of leaders, each with their distinctive cachet of interest groups. There is no centralised authority.

My fear is this is just a show by Darkness to pacify many of their christian readers. History shows, he is very good at playing games and if there is a pay out, he will not hesitate to switch sides. For example every time he has a reader revolt when they threaten to sue him. He threatens to go. And so they relent. This is such an embarassing scene that gets played out again and again, that I really do not know what to make of it. I just hope it is sincere Darkness. This way you will be blessed and hopefully you will set aside your evil ways and you shall be able to step into the light.
