Posted by singaporedaily on 25th September 2009

Yui Aragaki 新垣結衣 (born 11 Jun 1988) is a Japanese model, actress, singer, seiyū and occasional radio show host of Ryukyuan ancestry. She is a well-loved Japanese idol. Her beauty particularly her smile, is well-regarded in Japan. It was Yui’s sister who registered Yui in an audition for a junior fashion magazine (nicola) where Yui won the Grand Prix award. In 2004, Aragaki expanded her modeling career into gravure, and started appearing on variety shows and commercials (Glico’s Pocky being the most popular). After a breakthrough performance in the TBS drama Dragon Zakura, she began to pursue a career in acting. To date, she has won 5 Newcommer awards in 2007 and a prestigious Film prize at the 2008 Golden Arrow Awards. Aragaki also made her singing debut in 2007, singing the theme song for the movie Tokyo Serendipity (which she acted in) and the release of her album Sora.
